- 1 Lb Filberts - Ground
- 1 Tsp Lemon Peel - Grated
- 6 - Egg - Separated

- 1 Tbsp Light Corn Syrup
- 1 Tsp Water
- 1 - Egg Whites - Slightly Beaten

- Grease 9-inch 6 1/2-cup ring pan; sprinkle with graham cracker crumbs.
- Set aside.
- Mix sugar and allspice together; mix in filberts and lemon peel with tossing motion.
- Beat egg yolks until thick and lemon colored; blend into filbert mixture, working in well with hands.
- Beat egg whites until frothy; add salt.
- Beat until stiff but not dry; fold into filbert mixture.
- Turn into prepared ring pan.
- Bake at 350 degrees for 35 to 40 minutes or until cake tests done.
- Cool for 5 minutes.
- Loosen cake with spatula; turn out onto ungreased baking sheet.
- Blend corn syrup and water; brush over top of torte.
- Brush entire torte with egg white.
- Bake for 5 minutes longer.
- Cool; place torte on serving plate.
